Following a comprehensive review, the University of Cumbria has appointed MediaVest Leeds to handle their integrated media activity for the next 3 years.
MediaVest were chosen as they clearly demonstrated the ability to manage and execute integrated media campaigns, along with their experience within the field. Graham Kennedy, Marketing Manager at The University of Cumbria, commented on the new partnership;
“We’re one of the newest institutions in the Country but we have a strong vision of becoming a centre of excellence in a variety of fields. MediaVest came to us with an impressive combination of experience and innovation in media deployment, something that I feel will assist us in establishing The University as one of the best in the UK”
The University’s course provision spans undergraduate, postgraduate, further education and business facing, with MediaVest being tasked to improving the number of applicants and enquiries made. Dominic Geary, MediaVest’s Managing Partner, was delighted with The University’s decision;
“This appointment is testament to how well we know this market and understand their audience. We’re delighted to be working with the marketing team and hope we can help them develop their media strategy in the coming years”.
Despite difficult economic times, as well as reviews taking place with regards to University funding, the competition for University places has never been stronger. 2010 experienced a record in A-Level pass rates, with 27% of students achieving A’s and A*s, resulting in the competition for university places continuing to intensify. Furthermore, the number of applicants finding their University place through clearing increased from 21.2% to 28.2%.
This trend is expected to continue, making it more important for Universities to differentiate themselves, with The University of Cumbria priding itself on the top careers that its graduates enter once leaving.
