Money for Value - The Guide to Pricing Seminar

Posted by: Association of Illustrators

Date added: Mon 18 Apr 2005

Due to the overwhelming success and demand of the recent event Money for Value the Guide to Pricing, the Association of Illustrators (AOI) is organising a second evening seminar on illustration fees and standards of pricing, based on the Pricing Survey launched by the AOI in February 2005.

Wednesday 18th May - 6.15-9.00pm
AOP Gallery, 81 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4QS

The AOI Pricing Survey provides guidelines on pricing illustration fees and is published on the web site  for illustrators and their clients to see and use. The aim is to provide especially young illustrators, inexperienced illustrators/commissioners and those without agents with a valuable source for their business.

During the seminar Money for Value AOI Membership Co-ordinator Derek Brazell will discuss the cost structure of illustration commissions and talk about the importance of negotiation. Tamlyn Francis will focus on common practice in children¹s books and books illustration.

"These are the best, most informative talks I have ever expected or have found"
(Delegate February 2005)

Speakers:

Derek Brazell is an illustrator and has been the ethics advisor of the AOI for the past 3 years giving pricing advice to AOI members. He will share his experience gained from talking to illustrators and commissioners, and discuss pitfalls when it comes to negotiating fees.

Tamlyn Francis graduated in graphic design at Norwich School of Art and became an illustrator agent in 1992. She has been working at ARENA Illustrators since 1995. ARENA works for many different clients and has 35 illustrators on its books, all chosen for their individuality.

Tickets: £10 AOI members, £15 students, and £20 non-members. A free printed version of the Pricing Guide (worth £15) is included in the ticket price. Please book in advance by cheque made payable to the Association of Illustrators, 81 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4QS or book online at www.theaoi.com or telephone 0207 613 4328 to book with Visa/MasterCard or Solo/Switch (Maestro).
