Mirri, a world leading brand of metallic paper and board has been used by graphic artist, Yoni Alter in his latest art project.

This Mirri design is in a series of pieces that comprise of colourful dots that look abstract close up, but iconic figures appear when viewed from far away. In this project the dots were made from discs made ofMirri.

The discs were printed digitally with different colours using an Agfa Anapurna based at Victoria Litho, in North London. The artwork was then laser cut, keeping the discs in position on the sheet and then hung so they shimmer in the light.

This design is currently being displayed at Allstars restaurant and bowling alley on Brick Lane and will later be available for sale. This particular artwork depicts Wonder Woman, chosen for her distinctive shape, inspiring Alter to test the minimal amount of dots needed to depict her. (The size of the artwork is 1000 x 1000mm). Yoni Alter also plans to create other icons using this format and Mirri material.

Yoni Alter used Mirri, for a previous artwork displayed at Kemistry Gallery in Shoreditch. His work can also be seen on TV channel London Live and on a range of products at Tate Museum shops.

The Wonder Woman image is part of a series of iconic characters. The whole series which also includes Mr. T and Michael Jackson can be seen on a 25meter banner in Boxpark, Shoreditch.

Yoni, commented; “I’ve worked with Mirri before and I really like the metallic effect it offers. The artwork shimmers and interacts with the light in the location, by making the circles in the artwork free to move, this only increases the effect.”
